Baby :)

Life as we know it will soon be no more. I am pregnant, and Bryan and I couldn’t be more excited! I am 13 weeks along and everyone is healthy. I had a doctor’s appt. this week and heard the heartbeat again. I don’t think I could get tired of hearing that. It amazing how everything can change so fast. There are so many things to think about…

1. We have to move to a bigger place.

2. We have to prepare a nursery.

3. We have to get a new car.

4. How to be parents is a big one!!1

I know we will get through all of it one step at a time because we have plenty of help and support! We are open to advice and words of wisdom as we head into new territory :)

more updates to come….

Life… :)

I think it is safe to say that I’m not an avid blogger, but I still like to share news with everyone. I just prefer to talk on the phone…just ask my mom :) She is often the recipient of my calls filled with joys and frustrations that lead to my digression into something completely random. I never claimed to be a woman of few words! By the way, thanks Mom for listening.

Now to what I intended to talk about, what we’ve been up to (see, I told you I digress).

Bryan has been working and fishing, nothing new there (he even tried to tell me that he was going to “work,” aka fishing, the other day).  However, he is seriously considering entering some tournaments as an ameteur angler. I have to admit that I giggled initially at that idea, but he LOVES fishing. He has a passion for it that I admire and he often shows me his big catches. So, GO Bryan GO!

**I will have to say, I never pictured myself standing in front of any type of scale hoping for the weight to be high rather than low :)

I am busy working also, and I’m still loving my job. I enjoy learning new things each day and seeing the small successes my students have thinking I played a small part in them. I will begin working for the Wylie Recreation Dept. in January to help plan for summer camp next year. I have some ideas about a curriculum and discipline management plan! I also figured the extra money could help me pay for my trip to Israel…yes, I said Israel!! I just put my deposit down on the trip last Sunday. I will be going with our church Nov. 2, 2011. We will be there for 10 days and we will be going around to all of the Holy sites! Bryan and I feel like it will be the trip of a lifetime, and we are still trying to figure out if he will be able to go. I am so excited about bringing animation into my Bible studies!! Please pray for our preparation :)

Other than that, we signed a lease to stay in our apartment for another 16 months! (whew, no moving for a while)

God Bless each of you and I hope to see everyone over the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays.

Love,

B

A new job, a new norm

So, my first day as a teacher was a couple of weeks ago, and I absolutely love it. God totally intended for me to be a teacher. It is something I enjoy doing, not something I have to do! How could I not love it? I get the opportunity to change the lives of students and their families and laugh often at the funny things kids say (kids really do say the darnedest things), and I get paid to do it. I am learning so much, and I know I will always be learning as a teacher. I don’t mind it either because I love learning, hence the profession!

With the new job, I also get to enjoy the schedule that so many people have been telling me about for 2 1/2 years. Work during the day, home in the evening. Bryan and I get to enjoy the traditional schedule, and we love it. We get to see eachother everyday, and its not just when we are sleeping! Bryan has been really busy with work, thank you Lord, but we still get to spend more time together than before. We have even been able to start tackling some projects that have been on the back burner, such as cleaning out the garage and decorating the apartment. It has only been 2 weeks, and I can’t wait for more.

Hope all is well with you!

Preview of Fall

Oh how I love this weather. I just want to sit outside all day and soak up the sun without soaking my shirt with sweat! We have an awesome God who created this beauty for us to enjoy. I can’t believe we have this weather at this time of the year, but I hope fall will be exactly like this. Fall is my absolute favorite season…football, beautiful colors, cooler weather, preparation for the holidays, aaaaand my birthday :) I’m just so excited!!!

Bryan also enjoys this time of year because fishing is good and of course, football. This is the time of year when my saturdays are just that, mine. I can pretty much count on Bryan being in front of the T.V. watching several football games and adding his own commentary. I can set him up with some snacks, and he is good to go. Yes, its that easy!

So, Fall, please hurry up and get here.

April!!

Well, April is here and that means so many wonderful things.

1. My college graduation is 4 1/2 weeks away. May 15, 2010 at 9:00am to be exact. I will be sending out announcements in the next week or so. It is so exciting to achieve something I have worked so hard for!! I couldn’t have done it without the love and support from my family and friends.

2. Beautiful weather is here! I hope everyone is soaking up some sun and taking allergy medicine. I look outside, and I am reminded of how amazing God is and how much he loves us. There is something about spring that makes me feel renewed and energized!

3. Did I mention graduation….:)

4. Several birthdays are coming up, and that means time with family! The busier I get the more I cherish time with those I love. I am happiest when Bryan and I get to spend time together or when we get to spend time with our families!

5. Baseball and softball are in full swing!! (no pun intended) Bryan and I hope to make it to a Rangers game.

6. Wylie Wave is around the corner, and I will be working there. YEA! I am happy to be working with kids again. I will most likely be the activities programmer for the camp! I am planning camp right now!

I am searching for a teaching job and would love for you to keep me in your prayers and pray that I follow God’s plan for me. I have faith that I will end up where I need to be!

Also, just wanted everyone to know that I love you!

Happy Spring,

Brooke & Bryan

March Already

Wow a month goes by fast. Lately, things have been the same, although, I did come to a funny realization the other day while teaching.

For those of you who know me, you know that I am rarely at a loss for words. It seems that I can always find something to talk about, no matter who I am talking to. With that said, I have a student that I teach that is able to talk to anyone he sits next to. No matter who I move him next to, even if they are someone who has never once disrupted the class by talking, he can strike up a conversation with them. I find it challenging and frustrating, but I do enjoy speaking with him when I have a chance because he has a great personality, and he shares it with everyone…and I mean everyone. Well, after a few weeks of teaching this student, I have grown more and more accustomed to asking him to check his voice or be quiet. It was just a few days ago when I realized that this student is much like I was when I was younger. I was notorious for getting red sticks in my pocket in kindergarten (red sticks were a warning for talking). I just loved to talk, but I now understand why my teacher was frustrated and kept getting on to me. Its not that she didn’t want me to talk or she didn’t want to hear what I had to say…its that fact that I talked all the time and said everything to the point that I was distracting others. So, Mrs. Lowery I understand why you would get upset with me, and I see it from a different perspective now. Its funny how some of the students can remind me of myself, scary in some cases.

Anyway…I’m sick again with a sinus infection, but I dodged the rotavirus this week thanks to Lysol. I can handle a sinus infection, so I guess I can be thankful that I got one instead of something else. Its not a matter of if you get sick , but when and with what…the life of a new teacher. Well whatever doesn’t kill me will make my immune system stronger!

Bryan is doing well as always. He is being very supportive by cleaning the apartment and doing the dishes when I don’t am not able to because of school. Its almost over and we are both looking forward to the end. He might be doing some traveling to Arizona during March, so please keep his safe travel in your prayers.

Until next month…

resolutions…ha

Hi all,

I guess my lack of blogging since the new year speaks to the effectiveness of resolutions. However, I made it with the best of intentions. I guess Bryan and I don’t have many interesting things going on. I work and student teach and he works. We are both doing well though. My students who I teach are helping me build my immunity to illness by getting me sick. I am sick for the second time, which doesn’t surprise me because my students sneeze and cough around me with little regard to their proximity to my face. I try to use anti-bacterial lotion or wash my hands as much as possible, but they’re everywhere all the time. I am enjoying student teaching, and I am learning just as much as I am teaching, if not more. I love my collaborating teacher and school, but I am looking forward to spring break because I am going to New York City with one of my best friends. It is her first time to go, so we will have fun visiting all of the famous attractions.

Bryan is doing well. He still hasn’t scheduled his wrist surgery because of scheduling of jobs at work, but he will be having surgery in the near future. Hopefully his scalphoid bone will heal properly, which will prevent arthritis in his wrist. He is staying busy trying not to contract all of the illnesses that I bring home. He has done a pretty good job, but he also takes multi-vitamins. I need to be as diligent about taking my vitamins as he is, and then maybe I wouldn’t get sick as much. Well I hope all is well with everyone.

I’ll start off small and set a goal to blog once a month! hehe

2010

Okay, first of all, sorry for not blogging for the past four months. With school, work, and family, it has been quite a load. I have made a new year resolution to try to blog more often!

Bryan and I are very excited about what is to come in 2010. I have completed my first semester of student teaching, and I have one left. I will graduate in May! I just received a passing grade for my first certification test, so I am well on my way to becoming an official teacher. Bryan is still working with KCC, and praise God that they have work. He is still hitting the gym hard, but he found out a couple of weeks ago that he has a broken right wrist and a broken left middle finger. He has to have surgery to fix his wrist, and this will interfere with is workout routine. Needless to say, he is bummed about that. He says that he will just focus on legs, so if you see a change in the size of his calves or quads, make sure to let him know. (a little boost)

This past October I became an independent sales representative for Silpada Designs. It has been fantastic and an answer to prayers. It allowed me more time for school, but still gave me an income. I enjoyed having jewelry parties and spending time with friends and family and meeting new people. I really need to get started on booking the next few months with parties. If you know of anyone who would like to host a party, please let me know. It is the easiest thing to do to get free jewelry. I hope to see my business continue to grow throughout 2010. I am still working at Texas Roadhouse, but only on the weekends, if I don’t request off for jewelry parties.

I hope you and your family had wonderful Christmas season, and we pray that 2010 is filled with blessings for you and yours.

Well, I am done with summer school, and I am enjoying a break before my PDS (Professional Development School) begins. I will be student teaching in a 2nd grade classroom for my first rotation and a Special Education classroom for my second rotation. I am excited about finally being able to apply all of the things I have learned in my classes. Bryan has been working a lot lately. He recently got back from Arizona where he spent a week for work. When he is not working, we are looking for a new apartment. The crowd at our current apartment has become a little rough to put it gently, and Bryan and I feel that it would be best to get out and get to a more comfortable community. So, we are enjoying our time together during my break and will continue our search for the perfect apartment.

Success At Last!!

We got our new furniture today! We bought it on Monday and they delivered it today. We got a new couch, chair and ottoman, and coffee table. I am so excited. I love the feeling of having new furniture. It looks great and allows Bryan and I to both stretch out at the same time. I posted pictures below. I am excited to finish the rest of our decorating projects.
