2010

Okay, first of all, sorry for not blogging for the past four months. With school, work, and family, it has been quite a load. I have made a new year resolution to try to blog more often!

Bryan and I are very excited about what is to come in 2010. I have completed my first semester of student teaching, and I have one left. I will graduate in May! I just received a passing grade for my first certification test, so I am well on my way to becoming an official teacher. Bryan is still working with KCC, and praise God that they have work. He is still hitting the gym hard, but he found out a couple of weeks ago that he has a broken right wrist and a broken left middle finger. He has to have surgery to fix his wrist, and this will interfere with is workout routine. Needless to say, he is bummed about that. He says that he will just focus on legs, so if you see a change in the size of his calves or quads, make sure to let him know. (a little boost)

This past October I became an independent sales representative for Silpada Designs. It has been fantastic and an answer to prayers. It allowed me more time for school, but still gave me an income. I enjoyed having jewelry parties and spending time with friends and family and meeting new people. I really need to get started on booking the next few months with parties. If you know of anyone who would like to host a party, please let me know. It is the easiest thing to do to get free jewelry. I hope to see my business continue to grow throughout 2010. I am still working at Texas Roadhouse, but only on the weekends, if I don’t request off for jewelry parties.

I hope you and your family had wonderful Christmas season, and we pray that 2010 is filled with blessings for you and yours.

Well, I am done with summer school, and I am enjoying a break before my PDS (Professional Development School) begins. I will be student teaching in a 2nd grade classroom for my first rotation and a Special Education classroom for my second rotation. I am excited about finally being able to apply all of the things I have learned in my classes. Bryan has been working a lot lately. He recently got back from Arizona where he spent a week for work. When he is not working, we are looking for a new apartment. The crowd at our current apartment has become a little rough to put it gently, and Bryan and I feel that it would be best to get out and get to a more comfortable community. So, we are enjoying our time together during my break and will continue our search for the perfect apartment.

Success At Last!!

We got our new furniture today! We bought it on Monday and they delivered it today. We got a new couch, chair and ottoman, and coffee table. I am so excited. I love the feeling of having new furniture. It looks great and allows Bryan and I to both stretch out at the same time. I posted pictures below. I am excited to finish the rest of our decorating projects.

Short, but Sweet

Well, the search for a couch and chair continues. Yesterday, Bryan and I were going to get a recliner that we liked, so we donated our old furniture to make room for the new. When we got the recliner home and set it up, I sat down and relaxed as Bryan headed out the door to run a few errands. When Bryan got home, I was already gone to work, but I called him to see how he liked the recliner. He said that he wasn’t sure about the texture of the leather, and it took up quite a bit of room. (I was with him on the space hogging part) I told him we can return it because we will have to live with it for at least the next few years. So, we decided to return the recliner and continue our search. However, my two hours with the recliner were short, but sweet because now we don’t have any furniture. Ahhhh!

Today, Bryan and I went looking for a new couch. We visited a few different furniture stores, and I was prepared for the rush of salesmen as we walked into the door. Apparently Bryan was too because before we even went inside Bryan said, “I don’t want to talk to any salesman unless I am ready to buy something.” I was okay with this because I usually do a lot of the talking for the both of us. I did find it funny when the only thing the salesman tried to sell Bryan on was how the recliners would be great for watching football (and I am sure football was exactly what Bryan was thinking about as he reclined in every recliner, so they spotted Bryan easy). We found a few that we liked, and of course, we loved the most expensive ones, but we were determined to stick to our budget. We decided not to get a couch today because we didn’t want to make any impulse decisions due to our desparate need for a new couch. But there is always tomorrow, and we do plan to go look at a few more places. I can’t wait until we find the big comfy couch that I can relax on and not get a stiff neck and back. There is so much to be said for a comfortable couch. I let y’all know how the search ends!

……..

Oh my, it has been much too long since my last post. I am in the middle of taking 3 summer courses, and I can’t wait to be finished. Summer courses are always more intense than long semester classes, and I am feeling the intensity. I just found out yesterday that I will be starting my student teaching in a 2nd grade classroom. I am excited about learning hands-on in the classroom. I also must admit that I am excited about getting some new “teacher” clothes.
Bryan has been back and forth between here and Arizona over the past few weeks. I miss him when he is gone, but am thankful he is working. I wonder what it was like when couples didn’t have cell phones and couldn’t talk whenever they wanted, or when the internet wasn’t a part of daily life and flight status wasn’t updated every few minutes. I am glad these methods of communication exist so my nerves stay intact. I sadly admit that I am a worry wart…something I am working on.
Anyway, Bryan and I do get to spend more time together because we both work in the evening, and that time is priceless. So, we are doing great and pray that all of our readers are too!

***I just have to say this as an update on a previous post about Bryan helping me grocery shop. Bryan went to the grocery store all by himself yesterday because I was in class. I called him on my way home, and during our conversation, I asked him how much he spent. Being crafty, he claimed he didn’t have the receipt in front of him and couldn’t quite remember the total. I laughed because I saw right through his charade. When I got home, Bryan was gone to the gym, and I found the receipt on the kitchen counter. The total was more than twice what I usually spend!!! mmmmhhhmm…my point is proven.

Well, as the middle of the week approaches I have to admit that I have completely enjoyed the past two days off work, and I have literally done nothing. This past weekend I was matron of honor in my best friend’s wedding and I worked a double shift. I was extremely busy but enjoyed every bit of it. The wedding was absolutely beautiful and so much fun. Tawnee and Cody were married at Prestonwood Baptist and their reception was at Heritage Ranch. I am sad that Bryan was not able to make it, but he had to work.
Praise God for the ability and opportunity to work.
Anyways, I am ready to go back to work tomorrow and start summer school next week. It will be intense, but I truly believe I work best when I am busy. I will post pictures from the wedding soon.
